Odia actor Buddhaditya Mohanty stirred controversy with a recent social media post involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. In his post, Mohanty implied that Rahul Gandhi and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi could be the next targets of Bishnoi, who has been linked to various high-profile crimes.
In a now-deleted post, Mohanty wrote, “Germany had the Gestapo… Israel has the Mossad… USA has the CIA… now India has Lawrence Bishnoi… next in the list should be Owaisi and Rahul Gandhi.” This statement led to an uproar, especially among political circles.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, responded swiftly. NSUI state president Udit Pradhan filed a police complaint against the actor at the Capital police station, demanding legal action. According to Pradhan, Mohanty’s post crossed a line by suggesting that after the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Rahul Gandhi could be a target. The NSUI made it clear that they wouldn’t tolerate any threats or remarks against their leader.
The post has since been removed, but the controversy continues, with many criticizing the actor for making such a dangerous and provocative statement. The incident has sparked discussions around responsible use of social media, especially when it involves public figures and sensitive issues.
